I want someone to explain what Symbian OS and Windows Mobile are. Are they seperate programs/operating systems and do they both come with downloadable apps.
Secondly I would like a comparison to the iPhone in terms of which offers more apps and which apps are cheaper. Can iPhone apps run on symbian phones and vice versa.
Basically any information regarding Symbian and Windows Mobile with particular focus on apps and furthermore how they compare with iPhone apps. thank you.

They are both Operating Systems, providing services to applications and controlling hardware resources, pretty much like Windows, Linux or OS X do it on a desktop computer.
If by iPhone you mean iPhone OS then yes, you can compare the 3 and the result is:
- iPhone has more applications, although they are largely crap (iFart)
- Symbian has more powerful applications and better phones in portfolio
- Windows Mobile has … nothing but bad reputation
Native applications written for one OS will not run on the other.
